Job Description: |
- Performing vaginal examinations, monitoring, and recording vital signs during early labor, active labor and the postpartum period, auscultation of fetal heart during first and second stage as per MSF protocol
- To assist Specialist/Nurses in the management of obstetric emergencies/complicated deliveries
- Responsible for routine nursing care for neonates including first treatment after birth, the assistance of neonatal resuscitation, and routine care in the unit
- Receiving baby at cesarean section, providing basic resuscitation and being familiar with aseptic technique
- Monitoring/recording of postpartum infection, blood loss, vital signs, uterus, bladder care, and general wellbeing in the immediate postpartum period for mother.
- Observation and documentation of vital signs, color, and urine output on newborn observation chart.
- Regular observation of baby to detect any abnormal conditions i.e., infection, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and hyperthermia
- Administration of routine vaccinations within first 24 hours
- Care and observation of a small or sick baby as per MSF protocols
- Documentation of antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care in nursing notes
- Educate about COVID and prescreen/prioritize patient that needs immediate medical attention
- Participating in the nursing meeting for exchanging information on the state of the patients
