Introduction:


Jhpiego is an international non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University, USA. For more than 40 years and in over 150 countries, Jhpiego has worked to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego is dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. Jhpiego is addressing critical public health issues in Pakistan through collaboration with national and local government, training institutions, private practitioners and health educators. Jhpiego has been working in Pakistan since 1997 on various projects like Key Social Marketing, FALAH and PRIDE. Currently Jhpiego is working on “Increasing utilization of Family Planning services in one district of Punjab”. Jhpiego requires a female ’Counselor’ for its Family Planning project in District Sargodah Punjab.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Meet regularly with SBAs, nursing staff, recovery room and ward staff for ALL client registration within the last 24 hours who attended the Ante Natal Clinic, Labor Room, and Operation Theatre.

  • Counsel clients and motivate them to accept PPFP method.

  • Register clients who received or requested family planning method, and any complications reported.

  • Train designated staff of the facility in counselling.

  • Maintain accurate track of new and returning clients.

  • Work in close collaboration with the Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs) and other departmental staff at service sites to ensure timely registration of each client attending the antenatal clinic, labor room, operation theatre, recovery room and postpartum wards.

  • Collect data from cluster facilities sites to determine the number of deliveries taking place in each facility site during the intervention period.

  • Ensure overall maintenance of records at the facility.

  • Facilitate Program Officer, Trainers and M&E Officer in project activities including workshop/training planning; logistics travel arrangements, etc., to ensure smooth implementation of the project at facility levels.

  • Support clinical supervisor in developing monthly and quarterly summary reports.

  • She will support successful data generation and registration records at the end of each month and will be responsible for all data entry and records in collaboration with clinical supervisor.

  • Respect strict IP rules and supervisor other staff and beneficiaries regarding hand washing and proper infection control methods.

  • Report direct supervisor if recommended protocols and guidelines are not respected.


General responsibilities:



  • To motivate the client for family planning.

  • To provide counselling on PPIUCD.

  • To keep record and report counseled clients.

  • Responsible for making it possible that every counselled client be provided with PPFP service.

  • Responsible for record keeping of service provided clients.

  • To follow up with clients accordingly.


Qualification And Skills Required:



  • A Midwife or LHV having experience in related clinical record maintenance; Good knowledge of data collection; Technical knowledge and field experience in health programs, particularly Nursing/ Midwifery, with a focus on postpartum family planning. Family Planning with the government health system.

  • Strong coordination skills and ability to develop positive professional relationship with government staff.

  • Must have minimum intermediate certificate.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, Punjabi and Urdu.

  • Good skills and experience of working in MS words, Excel.

  • Very good experience and skills of report writing.

  • A Minimum of three years overall working experience is required.

  • Minimum two years of experience of working in maternal & child health & FP RH will be preferred.

  • Ability to travel around 50% of time to the field.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.

  • Ability to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism.
