Job Description: |
The Rice Broker acts as an intermediary between rice sellers (mills, processors) and buyers (wholesalers, exporters, local traders). The broker facilitates deals, negotiates prices, ensures quality standards are met, and helps manage logistics or payment arrangements. This role requires deep knowledge of the rice market, strong negotiation skills, and a reliable network.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with rice mills, exporters, and local buyers.
Match buyers with suitable sellers based on quality, price, and quantity.
Negotiate terms of trade including price, delivery timelines, and payment terms.
Stay updated on market rates, demand trends, and seasonal variations.
Visit mills and warehouses to inspect product quality and packaging.
Handle documentation and communication between both parties.
Ensure both buyer and seller adhere to agreed terms.
Follow up on payment collections if required.
Maintain records of transactions and commissions.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of different rice varieties (e.g., 1121 Sella, broken rice, IRRI, etc.)
Existing network in the rice industry (buyers and sellers)
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills (for record-keeping, WhatsApp/email communication)
Negotiation and deal-closing ability
Ability to travel locally (field visits to mills, godowns, buyers)
Preferred Experience:
1–5 years of experience in rice trading, sales, or brokerage
Experience with local and/or export markets is a plus
Fluency in Urdu, Punjabi; English is a plus (especially for export brokers)
Compensation:
Commission-based (typically a fixed amount per ton or percentage of deal)
Bonus for high-volume deals
Travel or mobile allowance (optional depending on company)
